The Level of a constructivist teaching among elementary science teachers in Riyadh

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of a constructivist teaching among the science teachers of primary schools in Riyadh region during the academic year 2018/2019 in the light of the training programs attended by science teachers according to mathematics and science curriculum development project. To achieve this goal an evaluation tool was constructed and used by an educational science supervisor to evaluate the level of a constructivist practices of learning and teaching in the classroom. The respondents were 18 science male and female teachers. After collecting and analyzing the data quantitatively and qualitatively, the indicators of a constructivist teaching were classified and descending according to the strength of its appearance in the classroom. The study recommended that teachers should implement the developed curricula in a consistent ways with a constructivist practices, so as to give greater focus to learning activities more than teaching activities in the classroom.
